**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN) **Job Specialty:** Medical/Surgical **Job Duration:** 12 Weeks **Shift:** Night Shift; 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, 36 or 48 Hours **Guaranteed Hours:** 48 Hours **Experience:** Minimum one (1) year of relevant nursing experience **License:** RN License in good standing **Certifications:** BLS (American Heart Association) **Must-Have:** Wound Management, RN Patient Care, RN License, Registered Nurse **Job Description:** - Assume responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame and provide care via utilization of the nursing process and resources within the philosophy of the institution. - Perform all responsibilities and duties required by the unit specific to the scope of service. - Implement procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. - Maintain up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team. - Complete initial assessment upon patient admission and develop an appropriate plan of care in accordance with unit standards based on patient and family needs. - Implement the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. - Modify the plan of care based on continuous evaluation. - Take responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents. - Communicate with others directly and privately when necessary to resolve issues. - Offer constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers and confer with colleagues to expand knowledge base. - Identify own learning needs and take the initiative to begin appropriate solutions. - Fulfill all requirements of departmental competencies. **Department Specific Job Functions:** - Provide post-operative care for the complex surgical population. - Assess and intervene appropriately to ensure positive outcomes during the post-operative phase. - Monitor and care for newly placed tracheostomies. - Assess and maintain wounds that require a wound vac and other complex wound management. - Assess, manage, and educate patients and families on new ostomies. - Work collaboratively with the general surgical residency and other residency services. **Education:** - Required: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) - Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) **Languages:** English (Read, Write, Speak)
