**Job Title:** Registered Nurse **Job Specialty:** Medical Surgical - Swing Bed **Job Duration:** 13 weeks **Shift:** 12-Hour Nights **Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week **Experience:** Minimum 2 years **License:** Required for submission **Certifications:** ACLS, BLS, PALS **Must-Have:** Must be qualified for emergency department duties and capable of handling medical-surgical responsibilities. **Job Description:** - Manage a unit with 10 beds, focusing on a nurse-to-patient ratio of typically 1:3-4. - Care for adults, geriatrics, and occasional pediatric patients, primarily those with swing bed needs such as IV antibiotics, therapy, or wound care. - Treat a variety of medical conditions including diabetes, pancreatitis, and pneumonia. - Collaborate closely with a small, team-oriented department emphasizing a family feel and strong teamwork culture. - Serve as a charge nurse on each shift, taking on assignments as necessary. - Work alongside nurse aides/patient care techs with a typical ratio of 1:8. - Participate in self-scheduling, overseen by management, for shifts from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM and 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM. - Fulfill weekend and holiday rotation requirements based on unit needs. - Be prepared to float to the emergency department as backup when required. - Dress in navy blue scrubs as per unit guidelines. - Complete two days of unit/department-specific orientation. - Embrace a willingness to assist wherever needed to support the team dynamic and collaborative atmosphere within the unit and with ancillary departments. - Utilize the EPIC charting system for patient documentation.
