**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN) **Job Specialty:** Medical Surgical **Job Duration:** 26 weeks **Shift:** 12-Hour Days **Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week **Experience:** Minimum 1 year **License:** Required **Certifications:** ACLS, BLS **Must-Have:** Experience with post-operative surgical patients **Job Description:** - Department: Medical Surgical, Floor 2, Surgical - Unit has 36 beds - Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5 - Common diagnoses/types of patients include surgical patients with a mix of medical-surgical conditions (e.g., total joints, appendectomies, cholecystectomies, simple back surgeries) and medical conditions such as CHF, COPD, pneumonia, psych, dementia, COVID-19. Strokes are not typically treated in this unit. - RNs are not required to titrate drips - Common titratable or set rate drips: heparin - Charge nurse and resource nurse available on each shift, and a med/surg crisis nurse is available throughout the facility. Charge nurse does not take assignments. - CNAs available with a ratio of 1:8 - Respiratory therapy equipment includes CPAP; BiPAP and High flow equipment will be transferred to IMCU or ICU - No tele/monitor techs; prefer RNs to read and interpret, assistance available if needed - Shifts are from 7 am to 7 pm; scheduling is flexible but no self-scheduling - Weekend and holiday requirements are based on need - No call or standby requirement - Floating to other medical-surgical floors is required - Dress code is navy blue scrubs; uniforms are not provided - Orientation includes general orientation and one shift on the unit - Facility has a radius rule of 50 miles, requiring candidates to reside outside this radius **Charting System:** EpicCare Inpatient EMR **Trauma Level:** 3 **Care Setting:** Acute, Nursing Division
