**Description:** Nurses in the Progressive Critical Care Unit provide care for medically delicate and surgically complex patients, such as those with respiratory failure, sepsis, head injuries, multi-system organ dysfunction, endocrine disorders, traumas, and surgical complications. Competency in caring for medical and surgical populations and an understanding of advanced hemodynamics, including the use of pressors per titration protocols, antihypertensive drips, sedative and narcan drips, thrombo-embolytics, a-lines, CVP, EVD, and ortho traction, is required. Expertise in infection prevention protocols and familiarity with HFNC, BiPap/CPap, and oxypendent is necessary. Nurses with extensive adult PCU experience and community hospital ICU experience generally excel in this setting. Average patient load is 3 high-acuity patients. Block schedules for Mon - Wed will not be approved, but weekend track schedules may be accepted.
