**Job Description:**
- This is a newly opening unit with a focus on higher acuity PCU patients.
- The unit will have 12-16 beds and will work closely with other Tele units for nursing support.
- Nurse-to-Patient ratio is 1:4 for both days and nights.
- Common patient types include post-surgical with a cardiac focus, post-24 CABG, CB surgery post CCU, IMCU overflow, high acuity respiratory, post-cath, post-pacemaker, and some overflow.
- Non-titratable cardiac gtts; robust nursing protocols available for handling these gtts.
- Set rate drips include Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Milrinone, and Heparin.
- Patients will not have more than two cardiac gtts running simultaneously.
- Charge nurse oversees Neuro and PCU (total of 31 beds) and will not take patient assignments unless necessary.
- PCTs available with 1 for the unit to assist with vitals, accuchecks, ADLs, call lights, hourly rounding, and more.
- RT is available to assist in managing RT equipment and respiratory treatments, with options for some hospital-initiated High Flow, CPAP, BiPAP, and/or Airvo/Optiflow.
- Centralized Tele Monitoring; RNs must be able to read and interpret tele strips and document them appropriately.
- Self-scheduling is allowed, although the schedule is not finalized until balanced; travelers are asked to stay flexible.
- Weekend requirements involve 4-6 weekend shifts in a 6-week period.
- May be asked to go in the holiday rotation and on standby, though it's not common.
- Floating to other units as required, such as ER Holds, IMCU, Tele, and MS.
- Navy Blue scrub color/dress code.
- Orientation includes 1 day with HR, 1 day with an educator, and 1-2 shifts with a preceptor within the first week.
- The hospital may cancel up to 3 times per contract; each cancellation could be a full shift or any part of a shift.
- Uses MEDITECH as the charting system.
