**Job Description:**
- Department features a 40-bed unit with an average daily census of 24.
- Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4-5 for both day and night shifts.
- Common diagnoses include cardiac medical/surgical, dialysis, cancer, vascular, sepsis, adult respiratory, stroke, post-stent, post-pacer placement, and renal failure.
- RNs are required to titrate drips like Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and insulin.
- Charge nurses are present on each shift and take assignments.
- Nurse aides/patient care techs are available with a 1:12 ratio.
- RNs may handle high flow RT equipment but primarily troubleshoot.
- RNs must read and interpret their own telemetry strips.
- Scheduling with Smart Square and requires working every third weekend and rotating holidays with permanent staff.
- Floating is required to MedSurg or ICU to take PCU acuity patients.
- Dress code includes navy blue scrubs.
- One week of unit/department-specific orientation provided.
- Emphasis on patient experience, responsiveness, hospital environment, and communication about medications.
- Successful nurses are team players, flexible, adaptable, and possess strong communication skills.
- The unit serves diverse cultural populations.
Candidates must reside beyond a 50-mile radius from the facility and be flexible with scheduling requirements. The use of the EPIC charting system is implemented, and the position does not require a BSN. Individuals must be open to constructive feedback and committed to continuous learning and development.
