**Job Description:**
- Work on the second floor, which has 20 private rooms and primarily focuses on PCU/Stepdown patients.
- Administer Ativan and insulin drips, and manage titrating drips with set rates.
- Maintain a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5 for both day and night shifts.
- Utilize EPIC for electronic medical records and Phillips Cardiac Monitors for telemetry.
- Collaborate with a charge nurse who may either float between floors or manage a full patient assignment.
- Assist with weekend shifts as required, primarily on a rotating schedule.
- Expect to be scheduled on holidays based on unit needs, though attempts are made to avoid this.
- Wear navy blue scrubs with optional navy or white jacket; undershirts must be white or navy, and hair must be a natural color. Distasteful tattoos must be covered.
- Conduct telemetry monitoring and export data into patient charts.
- Administer and manage a variety of drips, including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Labetalol, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Heparin, and Integrilin per protocol, as well as Nitro, and set-up ventilators like Bipap, Cpap, and High Flow managed accordingly.
- Hospitalist available in-house 24/7, along with 24/7 RT and pharmacy support.
- Schedule requests are entered in advance and approved by the manager. Block scheduling may be allowed if in the contract.
- Rarely required to float, but if needed, may assist ICU overflow, telemetry, or ortho/med-surg.
- Participate in floor-specific orientation, lasting 1-2 days, depending on experience.
- Manage patients with common diagnoses, including elevated troponin levels, no titration, no DKA, no vents, active chest pain, pre/post catheterization with and without intervention, post-STEMI recovery, NSTEMI, peritoneal dialysis, pacemakers, occasional post-surgical cases, and oncology patients if needed.
- Follow the cancellation policy which allows the client to cancel 2 shifts per 13-week assignment.
