**Job Description:**
- Provide nursing care in a 20-bed stepdown unit with all private rooms.
- Administer and titrate Ativan, insulin drips, and other set-rate drips.
- Manage a patient ratio of 1:5 during both day and night shifts.
- Utilize Epic Systems for EMR charting and documentation.
- Collaborate with a floating charge nurse, nursing aides, hospitalists, RT, and pharmacy staff who are in-house 24/7.
- Monitor and record telemetry using Phillips Cardiac Monitors; document strips and rhythms in patient charts.
- Handle common diagnoses including elevated troponins, chest pain, post-cath, STEMI/NSTEMI recovery, peritoneal dialysis, and pacemakers.
- Follow specific unit protocols for administering medications like Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Labetalol.
- Rarely float to other units; may include ICU, Tele, or Ortho/MedSurg only under specific circumstances.
- Maintain professionalism and adherence to dress code: navy blue scrubs with the option for white or navy undershirts or jackets.
- Participate in a collaborative work schedule using Kronos for scheduling requests.
- Participate in limited holiday and weekend work as per unit needs.
- Follow guidelines for reading telemetry strips and document appropriately.
- Ensure cancellation policy compliance: up to 2 shift cancellations allowed per 13-week assignment.
