**Job Description:**
- Work in the Float Pool with units including MedSurg, Telemetry, and Progressive Care Unit (PCU) across multiple campuses.
- Units include inpatients holding in the Emergency Department.
- Work environment: East Campus has a 10-bed double occupancy unit for ICU and stepdown patients. West Campus Stepdown has 14 rooms (double occupancy), with an average census of 20. The West Med Telemetry unit has 95 beds divided into 4 areas, with MedSurg organized into 10-room pods, double occupancy.
- Nurse-to-patient ratios are PCU 1:4, MedSurg/Tele 1:5-6.
- Care for patients with common diagnoses such as geriatric and orthopedic conditions, post-procedure recovery from strong cath lab program, post-myocardial infarction, post-cardiac catheterization, and CABG post-operative days 3-4.
- Must be able to manage and titrate drips including Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Insulin. Comfort with managing these drips is essential.
- Charge nurses are present on each unit and do not take patient assignments.
- Nursing aids are available in all settings.
- Familiarity with respiratory equipment including CPAP and BiPAP in MedSurg, as well as BiPAP, CPAP, and Heated High Flow in PCU.
- Ability to interpret EKG strips required; units are equipped with monitors and supported by monitor techs.
- Schedule involves working from 7-7 for AM and PM shifts, with a scheduler responsible for creating the schedule six weeks in advance for four-week periods. Flexibility is required, and block scheduling may be accommodated for night shifts.
- Every other weekend is required as well as participation in the holiday rotation.
- No call or standby requirements.
- Unit assignments will be communicated two hours prior to shift start via text message from the staffing office.
- Dress code: Solid color professional scrubs, transitioning to navy scrubs in alignment with guidelines.
- Orientation involves an 8-hour general hospital orientation and a 12-hour shift in both West Med Telemetry and PCU units. East Campus orientation is similar and straightforward.
