**Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week

**Experience:** Minimum of 2 years

**License:** License to practice as a Registered Nurse

**Certifications:** ACLS, BLS

**Must-Have:** At least 1 year of experience in a PCU setting

**Job Description:**

- Float Pool includes MedSurg Tele and PCU, as well as inpatients holding in the Emergency Department.
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: PCU 1:4 and MedSurg Tele 1:5-6.
- Common Patients: Geriatric, orthopedic, post-procedural, post-MI, post-Cardiac Cath, CABG post-op (day 3-4).
- Required Skills: Experience with titrating drips such as Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Insulin.
- Charge Nurse does not take patient assignments and nurse aides are utilized in all settings.
- Equipment: CPAP or BiPAP in MedSurg, BiPAP, CPAP, and Heated High Flow in PCU.
- Monitoring: Stepdown units have monitors. Monitor techs are present; nurses must interpret strips.
- Scheduling: Shifts are from 7 AM to 7 PM or 7 PM to 7 AM. Schedule published 6 weeks in advance for a duration of 4 weeks. Flexibility required, especially for block scheduling at night shift.
- Holiday Rotation: Travelers included in permanent staff rotation.
- Unit Assignments: Notified 2 hours prior to shift via text.
- Dress Code: Solid color professional scrubs; navy scrubs aligned with guidelines from October.
- Orientation: 8-hour general hospital orientation, 12-hour shifts in MedTele and PCU units.
- Charting System: Cerner
- Cancellation Policy: Up to 3 shifts per 13-week contract.
