**Job Description:**
- Float Pool includes MedSurg Tele and PCU across both campuses, including inpatient holding in ED.
- East Campus has 10-bed double occupancy units with ICU and stepdown patients.
- West Campus Stepdown is 14 rooms (double occupancy).
- Average census is 20. West Med Tele is 95 beds, divided into 4 areas.
- MedSurg is broken down into 10-room pods, double occupancy.
- Ratios: PCU 1:4, MedSurg Tele 1:5-6.
- Common patient types: Geriatric, orthopedic, post-procedural patients from a strong cath lab program, post MI, cardiac cath, and CABG post-op day 3-4.
- RNs are required to titrate drips such as Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Insulin.
- Each unit has a charge nurse who does not take assignments.
- Nursing aides are utilized in all settings.
- Respiratory equipment includes CPAP or BiPap at night in MedSurg, along with BiPAP, CPAP, and Heated High Flow in PCU.
- Stepdown units have monitors; techs monitor PCU and MedSurg Tele. Nurses must be able to interpret strips.
- Scheduling is handled by a scheduler 6 weeks out for 4 weeks at a time. Flexibility is required, especially for travelers. Night shifts try to accommodate block scheduling.
- Weekend requirement is every other weekend. Travelers will be included in the rotational holiday schedule.
- There are no call or standby requirements.
- Units are assigned through notification 2 hours before the start of the shift via text message from the staffing office.
- Dress code requires solid color professional scrubs, aligning with company guidelines by October.
- Orientation includes an 8-hour general hospital orientation, a 12-hour shift in MedTele, and a 12-hour shift in PCU.
- The charting system used is Cerner.
