License: Registered Nurse (RN) - Must be approved by the designated state Board of Nursing
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
Must-Have:
- Experience with cardiac strip interpretation, wound care, line and drain management, and drip titration for medications such as Heparin, Insulin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Levophed.
Job Description:
- Work in a unit with 36-48 beds, including semi-private rooms as needed.
- Care for a mixed unit with patient types ranging from Med/Surg to Intermediate Care, including long-length stay patients.
- Manage various patient conditions like DKA, pre/post-surgical care, infections, respiratory issues, renal and hepatic failure, and more.
- Administer oral, IV, IM, and SQ medications, including titratable vasoactive drips, TPN/tube feeding, and blood product transfusions.
- Perform responsibilities such as peripheral IV, midline, PICC and central line access, and management of chest tubes, nasogastric tubes, and collection devices.
- Provide preventative and restorative skin and wound care.
- Undertake telemetry monitoring and interpretation.
- Collaborate effectively with support on the unit, including CNAs and Charge Nurses who do not take patient loads.
- Participation in a mandatory orientation program covering policies, protocols, and hands-on practice with a preceptor.
- Flexible to float to other Adult Inpatient Units within the scope of practice.
- Participate in monthly audits for compliance with pre/post pain scoring.
Note: The role includes potential weekend rotation and limited holiday requests, with approval needed for extended time off.
