**Job Title:** Registered Nurse - Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

**Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week
**Experience:** Minimum 1.5 years of general nursing experience; experience in step-down level, cardiac procedural recovery, MI pharmacology, and titratable cardiac/vasoactive drips is preferred
**License:** Registered Nurse (RN) - State Board of Nursing
**Certifications:** BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
**Must-Have:** Cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tube management, experience with cardiac procedural recovery such as CABG/TAVR/post cardiac cath
**Job Description:**
- Work in a mixed acuity unit, handling patient types including Intermediate Care, Tele, and MedSurg
- Manage cases such as direct admits, post-cath lab, MI, NSTEMI, STEMI, CHF, dysrhythmia management, pacemaker malfunction, and epicardial pacers
- Serve as a backup for stroke unit and medical overflow
- Handle step-down level duties with post-cardiac/vascular, post-cardiac cath patients, post-open heart surgery, post-TAVR, post-EP studies, and post-pacemaker insertion
- Manage patient ratios typically 1:4, adjust to 1:3 as needed based on acuity
- Utilize skills in MI pharmacology, titratable cardiac/vasoactive drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Levo, Dopamine), and Heparin drips
- Collaborate with support team including CNA, charge nurses, phlebotomy, RT, and hospitalists
- Use EPIC for charting; approval required for those without prior Epic experience
- May float to sister units like General PCU, MS/Tele, or ICU as needed
- Required to wear Navy Blue scrubs
- Engage in 2 partial days of orientation and three 12-hour shadow shifts
- Adhere to weekend rotations and holiday expectations
**Scheduling:**
- Every other weekend rotation
- Up to 7 days off allowed, must extend for a full week off and no time off the first three weeks of August annually due to high traffic events
