- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Professional bedside manner and strong clinical judgment
**Job Description:**
- Work on a unit with 56 beds, managing a patient ratio of 1:4 for PCU/Tele and 1:5 for Med/Surg.
- Treat adult patients with a variety of diagnoses including CHF, ARF, hepatitis, ESLD, DM, DKA, pneumonia, sepsis, GI bleed, syncope, chest pain, pulmonary emboli, respiratory failure, COPD, arrhythmias, seizure disorders, overdose, and delirium tremors.
- You must be comfortable with cardiac and vasoactive drip titration, cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV starts, blood product administration, CIWA, drain/tube management, indwelling and straight catheter insertion/management, insulin drips, continuous bladder irrigation, and chest tube maintenance.
- Participate in a team nursing model, particularly on a floor where med-surg patients are cohorted alongside LPNs.
- Float to various units based on experience and within the scope of practice, including Adult Inpatient Units, Med Surg, Ortho/Neuro/Surgical, Heart and Vascular Unit, Oncology, ICU, and Observation units.
- Document care activities using the Epic charting system and other required equipment such as Alaris and Omnicell.
- Work closely with a team that includes CNAs, free-floating charge nurses, phlebotomy support, a resource nurse, respiratory therapists, and hospitalists, all available 24/7.
- Engage in effective communication through secure chat and paging systems for provider interaction.
- Participate in a weekend rotation of every other or 50% weekends per 4-week schedule, and work every other holiday during the contracted timeframe.
- Be prepared for possible audits for pre/post pain scoring compliance.
**Orientation:**
- 2 days of classroom/online education
- (2) 12-hour shifts with a preceptor
**Note:** Up to 7 days off are allowed during the contract, with the requirement to extend the contract if unable to work a full week to accommodate the 13-week duration. Scrub colors are specified for uniforms.
