**Job Description:**
- The unit is a mixed facility serving Med/Surg to Intermediate Care (IMC) level patients as well as long length stay patients.
- Nurses will handle a variety of patient diagnoses, including but not limited to DKA, pre/post-surgical patients, cellulitis, influenza, UTIs, pneumonia, COPD, CHF, renal failure, hepatic failure, gastrointestinal disorders, soft tissue injury and minor fractures, DVTs, and CVA overflow.
- Administer medications via multiple routes and manage drips, TPN/tube feeding, and blood product transfusions.
- Manage IV, midline, PICC, and central lines, as well as chest tubes, nasogastric tubes, drains, and urinary/fecal collection devices.
- Provide skin and wound care, as well as telemetry monitoring and cardiac strip interpretation.
- Work involves patient ratios of 1:5-6 for long length stay Med/Surg (No Tele), 1:5 for Med Surg/Telemetry, and 1:4 for Intermediate Care.
- Support on the unit provided by CNAs, charge nurses, phlebotomy, RTs, and hospitalists.
- EPIC charting system experience is strongly preferred.
- Expected to float to other adult inpatient units as necessary, including Med Surg, Ortho/Neuro/Surgical, Heart and Vascular Unit, Oncology, and Observation.
- Orientation includes two days of department training, followed by two shifts on the unit with a preceptor.
- Schedules are made on a 6-week basis, with weekend rotation potential for up to 4 out of 6 weekends.
- Holiday time off needs approval, especially around winter holidays and large local events.
- Monthly audits are conducted for compliance in pre/post pain scoring (must meet 90% compliance).
