**Must-Have:** Comfortability with MedSurg assignments, previous experience with specific patient types, ability to read/interpret cardiac strips, wound care, line management, drain/tube management, drip titration
**Job Description:**
- Work on a mixed unit handling Med/Surg to Intermediate Care level patients, as well as long-length stay patients.
- Care for patients with common diagnoses such as DKA, surgical recovery, cellulitis, influenza, UTIs, pneumonia, COPD, CHF, renal and hepatic failure, gastrointestinal disorders, soft tissue injury, fractures, and DVTs.
- Administer a range of medications, including oral, IV, IM, SQ medications, titratable vasoactive drips, TPN/tube feeding, and blood product transfusions.
- Manage various medical devices and lines including peripheral IV, midline, PICC, and central line access, chest tubes, nasogastric tubes, drains, and urinary and fecal devices.
- Provide preventative and restorative skin and wound care.
- Handle telemetry monitoring with the ability to read and interpret cardiac strips.
- Work through patient care ratios in different areas:
- Long length of stay (MedSurg/No Tele) - 1:5-6
- Med Surg/Telemetry (No IMC drips) - 1:5
- Intermediate Care - 1:4
- Experience required in drip titration with specific medications such as Heparin, Insulin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Levophed (up to 5 mcg), occasionally esmolol drips, or other Beta-blockers or antihypertensives.
- Collaborate with support staff including CNAs, a charge nurse, phlebotomy, respiratory therapists, and hospitalists.
- Strong preference for previous experience with the Epic charting system.
- Willingness to float within the scope of practice to any Adult Inpatient Unit as needed.
- Participate in orientation including department information and on-the-unit training with a preceptor.
- Flexible scheduling, with a potential weekend rotation and no mandatory on-call time.
- Holiday and time-off policies to be adhered to, with possible blackout dates for special events.
- Compliance with monthly audits for pre/post pain scoring is required.
