**Job Title:** Registered Nurse - PCU

**Shift:** 12 Hour Days

**Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week

**Experience:** Intermediate/Stepdown Level RN; 1 year of nursing experience required

**License:** Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing

**Certifications:** BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

**Must-Have:** EPIC experience for first-time travelers

**Job Description:**

- Work in a 64-bed unit with a mix of acuity levels, including Intermediate Care, Telemetry, and MedSurg.
- Care for a variety of patient types including surgical (urology, general abdominal surgeries), orthopedic (total joints, ortho trauma), neuro/spine (CVA/TIA, seizures/epilepsy, brain tumors), and general medical (cellulitis, pneumonia, COPD, COVID-19).
- Handle surgical post-operative care including spinal surgeries like laminectomies and fusions.
- Administer wound care and monitor telemetry patients.
- Maintain patient ratios of 1:4 for assignments.
- Utilize skills in cardiac strip interpretation, chest tube management, trach care, and line management (PICC/Midline/CVL/PIV).
- Perform drip titration for medications such as Heparin, Insulin, and select beta-blockers.
- Work within a pod structure with support from CNAs, flex nurses, charge nurses, and resource nurses.
- Charting system experience with Epic is strongly preferred.
- Potential for floating to various adult inpatient units within scope of practice.
- Participate in a comprehensive 2-day orientation with additional unit-specific training shifts.

**Additional Notes:**

- Navy blue scrub color is required.
- Compliance with audits for pre/post pain scoring is necessary.
- Must be open to working weekends, potential every weekend assignment, and adherence to holiday time-off requirements.
- Blackout dates may apply during specific local events.
