**Job Title:** Registered Nurse

**Job Specialty:** Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

**Job Duration:** 13 weeks

**Shift:** Night 4x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:00)

**Guaranteed Hours:** 36 or 48 Hour Guarantee

**Experience:** Minimum 2 years; First-time travelers not accepted

**License:** GA or Compact license must be in hand

**Certifications:** BLS, ACLS, NIH/NIHSS

**Must-Have:** Availability to submit core items and complete/schedule labs within 48 hours of signing the contract

**Job Description:**

- Patient population ranges from adults to geriatrics.
- Manage and titrate drips including amiodarone, Cardizem, precedex, cardene, labetalol, dopamine, dobutamine, insulin, and nitroglycerin.
- Handle equipment such as Glucommander, trach to vents, BiPAPs, high flows, salter cannulas, arterial lines, and bedside cardiac monitors.
- Dialysis performed at the bedside by a dialysis nurse.
- Facilitate rapid sequence intubation and manage patients on sedation and ETTs.
- Administer low-dose pressors if needed for ICU overflow.
- Patient diagnoses include but are not limited to COVID-19, respiratory failure, DKA, renal failure, hypertension emergency, CHF, post-carotid endarterectomy, post-surgical requiring close observation, sepsis, and stroke.
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4 in a 16-bed unit with an average daily census of 16.
- Utilize unit systems such as Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR for documentation and communication.
- Work environment requires floating to Cardiac Telemetry Unit and Med Surg Pulmonary Unit as needed. May also float to ICU with relevant experience or if IMCU patients in ICU are held.
- Scrub color is navy blue.
- Required to work every other weekend.
- May be required to work one or more major holidays during the assignment period.

**Holidays include:**
- Christmas Eve and Day: December 24 & December 25
- New Year's Eve and Day: December 31 & January 1
- Memorial Day: May 27
- Independence Day: July 4
- Labor Day: September 2
- Thanksgiving/Black Friday: November 28 & November 29

**Compliance:**
- Full compliance needed to start on time; non-compliance may delay the start by 2 weeks due to bi-weekly orientation schedule.
- Must be away for 1 full year from all relevant facilities to return as a traveler.

Orientation will be 13 hours non-billable, with required completion of compliance documentation prior to start. Local candidates accepted with same benefits. Return travelers need to have completed a successful assignment elsewhere before rebooking.
