**Job Title:** Registered Nurse - PCU

**Certifications:** ACLS, BLS
**Must-Have:**
- IV start skills
- Experience with Vents, Telemetry, CPAP/BiPAP
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
**Job Description:**
- The unit accepts first-time travelers.
- Locals are accepted with a rate difference.
- Target Ratios: Nurse to patient ratio of 1:5-6 (mixed acuity unit with PCU and MS/Tele patients).
- Required to float to similar units as needed.
- Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts in 6 weeks but may require more due to staffing needs.
- Patient Population: Mainly patients with COPD, pneumonia, respiratory distress, Covid-19, flu, and pulmonary embolisms. The unit includes chronic trach/vent patients.
- Acuity: High-end for a med-surg unit with support from a team lead, respiratory therapists, and an assistant nurse manager.
- Special Equipment and Skills: Management of chest tubes, administration of Dopamine, Cardizem, and Heparin drips. Proficiency with vents, trachs, CPAP/BiPAPs.
- Utilizes Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR systems.
- The unit can accommodate block scheduling.
- Orientation provided for 24 hours.
- Required to pass EKG testing prior to start.
- Wearing scrubs in white or navy blue is required.
- Additional resources available include an Admission/Discharge nurse, a Vascular Access Team, an RRT Code Team, and a Behavioral Health Team.
- Compliance with module completion prior to start.
**Note:** Candidates should be comfortable floating based on skill sets and census requirements. Preference is given to those who have recent references from managers or supervisors. Candidates must work 2 out of the 3 major holidays and cannot have RTO during the first week of their assignment due to orientation.
