Certification Details Certifications: BLS required, ACLS preferred. Job Details Facility in Eastern Nebraska is looking for several traveling Med-Surg nurses. The hospital is looking for both day and night shift coverage. Job Requirements BLS required. ACLS preferred. Nurses are successful on this unit when they can manage the business of the day, have good attendance, are a team player, friendly, compassionate, and cares about patients first. Schedule Information The shift will be twelve hours, 13-26 Week Contacts, 36-48 hour guarantee's. SELF SCHEDULING. 0630-1900, 1830-0700. Travelers will be scheduled. Will approve a limited amount of block scheduling. Every other weekend. 2-3 Holidays from Thanksgiving to New Years. Unit Specific Information # of Beds: 55. Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:5-6. Common diagnosis/Types of patients: MedSurg/Tele- joint replacements, fractures, colon resections, COPD exacerbation, prostatectomy, cellulitis, sepsis, ortho trauma, GI bleeds, pneumonia, failure to thrive. How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation?: 2 days. Additional Details Are RN's required to titrate drips?: Heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine. Common titratable &/or set rate drips: PCA pumps. Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: Yes. Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties?: Yes- 1:10-20. Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RN's required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?: Tele techs will interpret, RNs should have some tele awareness. Floating Requirements: Yes to other medical surgical areas or units with MedSurg patients waiting for a MedSurg bed. Scrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs Provided?: RNs: Navy Blue. Have mechanical lifts in every other room, Big focus on hourly rounding and responsiveness. This unit typically has multiple discharged and admissions in one day. They serve patients of all cultures on this unit including Spanish, Karen, Burmeese. Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity. RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13 week contract). Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions.
