**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN) **Job Specialty:** ED Holds (Telemetry RN) **Job Duration:** 13 Weeks **Shift:** 12-Hour Days, Every Other Weekend, First to Float **Guaranteed Hours:** 36 Hours per Week **Experience:** Minimum of 2 Years **License:** Required to Submit **Certifications:** ACLS, BLS, NIHSS **Must-Have:** - Telemetry experience - NIHSS certification - Experience managing drips **Job Description:** - Provide care for patients recently released from the emergency department who are awaiting a hospital bed. - Manage general medical and stroke patients. - Titrate drips primarily for heparin, amiodarone, cardizem, and gastrointestinal drugs. - Competently read telemetry strips, as no monitor techs are available in the emergency department. - Work in a unit with 25 ED beds, 5 Fast Track, and 2 Triage beds with separate entrance. - Maintain a nurse-to-patient ratio of approximately 1:4 or 1:5. - Collaborate with the charge nurse and house supervisor as needed. - Use respiratory therapy equipment such as rare trachs and occasional BiPAP. - Follow a self-scheduling process, with schedule finalization by the manager. - Participate in weekend rotation and holiday scheduling with permanent staff. - Float to inpatient units as needed. - Adhere to the dress code of navy blue scrubs, with optional scrub jackets in navy. - Utilize the Cerner charting system. - Complete a unit-specific orientation to ensure smooth transition into the role.
