Certification Details Must have certification WOCN CWS, or WCC. Must have BLS certifications, these must be attached to the submission (Must be through the American Heart Association) Job Details Manages facility wound care program including standards of care and practice related to wound, ostomy, and continence patient care needs. Provide direct patient care and assistance to staff nurses, and act as consultative service to affiliated healthcare agencies. Develop and implement the facility wound care program in conjunction with the national standardization process, which includes patient care protocols, documentation tools, wound care formulary, and WCC referral criteria. Establish standards of care, competencies, policies, and procedures in quality, cost-efficient and effective wound care for all clinical staff. Act as primary consultant to Wound Care Clinicians. Serve as a consultant to facility staff and advocate with physicians; through training and support, enable clinical staff to effectively assess wounds, recommend appropriate protocols, and initiate plans of care. Provide ongoing education to staff on products available for use in hospital. Evaluate all wounds upon admission and ongoing to determine treatment plan and provide early problem identification. Provide consultation and/or assessment on patients with pressure injuries. Consult on any wound that does not show measurable signs of healing within two weeks. Assist the primary nurse in developing an appropriate plan of care for comprehensive wound management and wound prevention. Make recommendations to the physician for changes to wound care orders and provide evidence-based research support as needed. Review medical records of patients with wounds and ensure that wound assessments, care plans, and treatments are clearly and correctly documented. Investigate all cases with adverse events related to wounds through the completion of root cause analysis (RCA) and develops action plans based on RCA findings. Participate in clinical outcome monitoring, follow-up, and agency performance improvement initiatives. Collaborate with Support Center Clinical Operations staff to maintain a cost-effective wound care formulary. Assist with training of new hire Wound Care Coordinators within the Hospital Division. Job Requirements Must have certification WOCN CWS, or WCC. Must have BLS certifications through the American Heart Association. Must have 2 years recent Wound Care Coordinator experience. Must have NC RN license. Schedule Information Shifts will be Four -10 hrs days, with an every other weekend. Start time 7am-5:30pm.
