Administers treatments and occupational agents as prescribed by a referring physician in an effort to restore function and prevent disability following injury, disease or physical disability. Assists patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning, while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities. The staff therapist coordinates, delegates and supervises responsibilities assigned to supportive staff (OTA, Patient Care Assist., etc.), and participates in scheduling patients, as well as all other aspects of patient care within the Department. The OT participates in operational aspects of the department, maintains performance improvement activities within the department and participates in QA activities. Basic computer knowledge Knowledge of blood borne pathogens, universal precautions, hazardous chemicals and fire and safety policies and proceduresWork Environment: Works in a well-lighted and ventilated office area, as well as throughout patient care areas. Likely exposure with blood, body fluid, hazardous materials, radiation, and infectious diseases.
