- Bilingual in Spanish
**Job Description:**
- Responsible for evaluating patients referred for speech therapy and formulating a plan of care.
- Administer speech therapy treatments.
- Interact with all hospital departments and medical staff.
- Maintain the highest degree of confidentiality in all areas involving patients and related business.
- Conduct business in an ethical and lawful manner; report any knowledge of real or potential fraud or abuse.
- Abide by personnel, payroll policies and procedures, and departmental policies and procedures.
- On-call responsibility once a month.
**Position Details:**
- This position is approximately 98% outpatient and 2% inpatient/acute care.
- Outpatient work involves approximately 60-70% pediatric cases (varied diagnoses and ages) and 30-40% adults (mostly post-stroke or other neurological diagnoses). Typically involves one outpatient Modified Barium Swallow Study (MBSS) per week.
- Inpatient duties are less frequent, primarily addressing acute stroke or other neuro conditions in adults.
- Analytical skills are necessary to prioritize workload and develop solutions to problems concerning patients' bodies, minds, and spirits.
- Basic computer knowledge required, including Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Intranet.
- Ability to learn computer software programs such as Cerner Millennium, Policy Manager, OneSource, HPF, One Content, etc.
- Must have interpersonal skills necessary to instruct/comfort patients and families, and maintain effective communication with healthcare team members.
- Must be able to understand, read, write, and speak English.
Note: Pediatric experience and being bilingual in Spanish are preferred but not required.
