**Job Title:** Speech Language Pathologist
**Job Specialty:** Inpatient Acute Care
**Job Duration:** 13 weeks
**Shift:** Day · Weekdays (Mon - Fri)
**Guaranteed Hours:** 40.00 per week
**Experience:** Comfortable evaluating and treating patients with swallowing and/or cognitive deficits
**License:** Required state license for Speech Language Pathology
**Certifications:** BLS (AHA or ARC)
**Must-Have:** Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology

**Job Description:**

- Evaluate, plan, direct, and administer programs of Speech Language Pathology in an inpatient acute level setting upon physician referral.
- Plan and conduct programs to restore function, prevent disability, and help patients achieve maximum independence.
- Provide direct therapy services to patients requiring service seven days a week, including holidays.
- Evaluate patients and select and administer assessment techniques to establish appropriate care plans.
- Gather and interpret data from medical records, physician reports, and patient/family input.
- Document evaluations, tests, progress notes, treatment notes, attendance records, education, outcomes, discharge notes, and charges.
- Communicate evaluation and progress to physicians, referral sources, and clinical staff, coordinate patient schedules and treatment programs, and manage discharge planning.
- Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles, and skills and competency appropriate to patient population needs.
- Utilize personal protective equipment as needed in a fast-paced clinical environment.

**Physical Requirements:**

- Adequate hearing and vision for communication and reading.
- Intelligible speech and adequate language/cognitive skills for job duties.
- Frequent sitting, standing, and walking; occasional climbing stairs, kneeling, twisting, bending; rare crouching, crawling, and overhead reaching.
- Lift patients, equipment, or supplies up to 20 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally.
- Demonstrate exercises and activities to patients/caregivers when necessary.
- Work primarily indoors, occasionally outdoors.

- Limit access to protected health information (PHI) to what is reasonably necessary to perform the job.
- Share information only on a need-to-know basis for work purposes.
- Controlled access to verbal, written, and electronic PHI via user ID and password.
