Azusa Pacific University received it's first Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Program grant (McNair) in 2023.
The McNair program contributes to enhancing the post-baccalaureate success by steering APU students to the appropriate graduate programs and ensuring students are well prepared, academically, personally, and emotionally, for their graduate experiences.
This preparation will be through the many diverse activities outlined in the grant award such as research mentorships patterned after APU's existing research programs.
The McNair program will nurture and stimulate at least 25 students, providing them with high levels of skills and self confidence to maximize prospects for timely success in graduate programs.
The Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing clerical and administrative support for the APU TRiO McNair project.
This position is a grant-funded 20-hr per week position and subject to terms of the award, which is eligible for renewal.
Required Education Bachelor's degree required. Required Experience Two years of administrative assistant related work, preferable in higher education, working with underrepresented student population. Primary Duties/Essential Functions Provide clerical and administrative support to the Project Director.Carry out all general office duties.Maintain financial and participant records.Serve as the receptionist, receiving visitors and answering telephone and emails.providing courteous and complete information about the project.Create and maintain records as required.Safeguard the integrity of personnel, office, and participant files in accordance with FERPA, APU, and McNair project guidelines. Skills General clerical/receptionist experienceAbility to work independently on complex clerical assignments, purchase orders, budget management, TRIO Regulations, student file management, data collection, etc.Experience coordinating office operations, monitoring, evaluation.Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Apps, as well as online virtual platforms.Bilingual in Spanish and English is strongly preferred. Mental Demands In agreement with the purpose and goals of Azusa Pacific University in providing a Christian-based higher education for its students. Physical Demands Intermittent sitting and standing.
Requires keyboard and 10-key work.Extensive telephone usage.
Ability to lift, pull, grasp, bend and reach.
Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. Visual Demands Computer monitor and reading. Environment Pleasant office, comfortable temperatures.
Multiple conversations and transactions occurring simultaneously. Technologies Proficient in Google Apps., Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel. Compensation Grade 6: $17.72 - $20.38 is the hourly compensation for this role and reflects what Azusa Pacific University reasonably expects to pay for this position.
Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
