12 Month Position Details: Summary of Duties:
The Student Services Manager for TRiO Student Support Services (SSS) will direct
and oversee the federally funded program including grant operations, fiscal management, human resource functions, and related administrative functions. The Student Services Manager utilizes a comprehensive depth of knowledge and expertise to provide innovative service that promotes student success and retention in accordance with the grant program, the division of Academic and Student Affairs, the campus, and university.
Responsible for providing leadership and direction; planning, developing, managing, and administering program strategies; responsible for directing and controlling program operations and is accountable for the allocation of resources and program results; establish and implement short and long-term organizational goals and objectives; maintain on-going communication with funding source, WSU Tri-Cities faculty and staff; represents the university to internal and external constituents; supervise the delivery of program services which include: recruitment to the TRiO SSS and TRIO STEM SSS program, participation, advising, reporting, and evaluation of services to ensure progress and compliance in the area of student retention, academic standing of participants, and graduation of program participants; utilize working knowledge of policies, principles, and procedures of federal regulations outlined in the TRiO SSS grant under the U.S. Department of Education.
The successful candidate will provide and execute the vision of the program to address changing social, educational, demographic and financial issues which impact service delivery to students. The Student Services Manager provides critical support to the mission of Academic and Student Affairs at WSU Tri-Cities. Essential Duties:

5% Other Required Qualifications: Positions require a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in a field related to the functional managerial area which has included at least one (1) year of supervisory experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. A Masters degree in a relevant field may be substituted for up to one year of the required experience.
Master's degree in any related field.
Professional work experience in student services including working with low-income, first-generation and diverse student populations.
Experience in designing and/or implementing an SSS or similar student program.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse students, faculty/staff and community.
Working knowledge of policies, principles, and procedures of a higher education institution.
Evidence of oral presentation experience and written communication proficiency.
Demonstrated leadership skills.
Valid driver's license.
Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications: Three (3) or more years of experience leading or directing the work of others.
Prior experience with TRiO/Post-Secondary Programs.
Prior experience with federal grant administration and grant writing experience.
Working knowledge of student development theory, implementation, and practice.
Working knowledge of student needs and retention activities.
Bilingual/Biliterate in Spanish and English.

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.
