Phifer Incorporated has an opening in their Tuscaloosa facility for a Long Haul Truck Driver. This position is responsible for transporting Phifer products in a safe and professional manner to customers cross country and to Canada. MINIMUM JOB SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a Class A Commercial Driver's LicenseMust possess a safe driving record.Must pass Department of Transportation physical examination.Must be at least 25 years of age.Must pass driving test.Must have or be able to acquire a passport Negative DOT pre-employment drug test.Must complete Employer Accident and drug/alcohol testing history.Driving Record showing medical certification statusACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Must have a minimum of two years' cross country experience in driving a diesel tractor with trailer.Must have 2-3 years of experience operating a Electronic Logging Device (ELD)Prefer material handling equipment experience. Will drive truck to destination, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and skill in maneuvering vehicle in difficult situations, such as narrow passageways.
2. Will maneuver truck into loading or unloading position, following signals from loading crew as needed
3. Will drive truck to weigh station before and after loading, and along route to document weight and conform to individual state regulations
4. Will maintain driver log according to I.C.C. regulations via electronic logs
5. Will inspect truck before, during, and after trips and submit reports indicating truck condition
6. Will obtain shipping bills of lading and necessary signatures and return completed paper work to shipping office
7. Will manually load or unload or assist in manually loading and unloading of truck
8. Will perform miscellaneous service duties such as checking on a daily basis oil, water, gasoline or diesel fuel, and air in tires. Will report any maintenance malfunctions to supervisor.
9. Will chock rear wheels of truck or trailer before any unloading takes place
10. Will secure loads by using straps or other securement devices
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. May use hand truck to rearrange loads in shipping department area
2. May sweep out truck body
3. May switch empty/full trailers in shipping yard for optimum loading patterns
4. May be assigned other department duties as determined by management
