Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and creative UI/UX Designer Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our team on a critical Department of Defense (DoD) project. As a UI/UX SME, you will lead the design of user-centric interfaces that meet the highest standards of usability, accessibility, and security required by the DoD. You will collaborate with stakeholders, developers, and other designers to create intuitive and engaging user experiences for complex applications. \n Key Responsibilities: Oversee the design of user interfaces and user experiences for complex DoD applications, ensuring they are intuitive, engaging, and meet user needs. Conduct user research through interviews, surveys, and usability testing. Develop wireframes, prototypes, and user flows to visualize design concepts and iterate based on user feedback and results. Ensure all designs comply with DoD accessibility standards and best practices for usability, creating inclusive experiences for all users. Work closely with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to integrate design into the development process, ensuring a seamless user experience. Create and maintain design systems and style guides to ensure uniformity. Provide expert guidance on UX best practices, advocating for human-centered design approaches and methodologies. Keep up to date with the latest design trends, tools, and technologies to continuously improve our UI/UX design capabilities. Mentor and guide junior designers, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement within the design team. Ensure all design practices and deliverables comply with DoD regulations and cybersecurity standards, contributing to the overall security posture of the project. Skills/Qualifications:Active DoD security clearance or the ability to obtain one Education: Bachelor's or master's degree in graphic design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field. Experience: 8+ years in UI/UX design, including at least 3 years in a senior or SME role. Technical Skills:
Strong proficiency in UI/UX design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD. Experience with user research methodologies and usability testing. Knowledge of accessibility standards Section 508, WCAG, and best practices. Familiarity with front-end development technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript to effectively communicate with development teams. Strong understanding of design systems and component-based design approaches. Soft Skills:
Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities. Ability to present and advocate for design concepts to stakeholders at all levels. Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with DoD-specific projects or within a government environment. Relevant certifications such as Certified Usability Analyst (CUA) or Human Factors International (HFI).
