Purpose
Part-time position working closely with the Instructional Services Coordinator to support undergraduate research in the Reading Room and in-person and remote class sessions.
This is a 1 year position with the opportunity to renew.

Responsibilities Support undergraduate research through long-term embedded teaching engagements, open office hours, and work at public service points.
Teach in-person and remote sessions for visiting classes, averaging up to two sessions per week.
Facilitate single, multi-visit, and semester-long classes through co-construction of reserve lists, scaffolded lesson planning, and extended research in relevant collections.
Facilitate class assignments in the Reading Room through outreach and coordination with professors, preparation of supplementary materials, and organization of required Reading Room orientations and handling demonstrations.
Provide logistical support for visiting classes.
Coordinate with staff, faculty, and students to plan classroom support.
Help with the preparation of classrooms by stocking materials (such as paper, pencils, chairs, and display supports), staging archival materials before a session, and returning archival materials to their housings/boxes after a session.
Welcome classes upon their arrival and orient them to classroom policies.
Attend class sessions that require the presence of a Ransom Center staff member.
Manage Schuchard Undergraduate Archival Research Prize program including coordination with the Ransom Center's Marketing & Communications and Development teams, administration of application process, and facilitation of the evaluation panel.
Participate in outreach that aims to build new teaching relationships and increase student access to the archive.
Administer student experience survey and distill findings into actionable insights for the Instructional Services Program.
Support Public Services by staffing service points including Reception, Reference, and Circulation.
Participate in paging and reference.
Develop practices and policies to improve the accessibility and inclusiveness of the Reading Room.
Work with the Public Services team to facilitate equipment and technology moves, upgrades, and support services for Instructional Services Program.
Required Qualifications Sixty (60) hours of college credit and experience with primary source research Excels at effectively communicating with varied groups, in both oral and written formats Self-motivated, with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a face-paced, public service environment Goal and detail oriented, with strong organizational and problem-solving skills Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools and Google Suite Ability to work occasional Saturdays Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated knowledge of Harry Ransom Center collections At least one year of experience working in a special collection Graduate level coursework in education, library science, or a field related to our collection strengths Experience using Aeon or another circulation software Salary Range
$18.00/hr

Standard M-F with occasional Saturdays totaling 20 hours per week
