Today, we are one of the world's fastest growing insurance organizations, capable of writing in 128 countries on 6 continents. Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Commercial Underwriter to join our team.
The successful candidate will have at least three years of experience in underwriting large property accounts and a strong understanding of commercial underwriting principles.
As a Commercial Underwriter, you will be responsible for evaluating and underwriting commercial insurance applications for large property accounts.
Key Responsibilities: Evaluate and underwrite commercial insurance applications for large property accounts in accordance with established underwriting guidelines and proceduresAnalyze and interpret data to determine risks and potential exposuresDetermine appropriate coverage and pricing for each policyBuild and maintain relationships with brokers and clients to ensure quality service and customer satisfactionCollaborate with underwriting team members and other departments to achieve company goals and objectivesMonitor performance of accounts and make recommendations for improvements or changes as neededKeep up-to-date with industry trends, regulations and guidelines Travel to and complete marketing/sales meeting in assigned territories Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Risk Management, Finance or a related fieldAt least 3 years of experience in commercial underwriting with an emphasis on large property accountsStrong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environmentAbility to manage multiple priorities and deadlinesKnowledge of underwriting software and systemsFor individuals assigned and/or hired to work in California, Starr Insurance Companies is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role.
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets: experience and training: licensure and certifications: and other business and organizational needs.
A reasonable estimate of the current range is $90,000 - $140,000
