SCOPE: As an Underwriting Clerk, you will play a key role in supporting the underwriting department's operations by performing various administrative tasks and ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of the underwriting process. Your responsibilities will include in-depth tasks related to document management, data entry, and communication with internal and external team members. Through meticulous tracking and flagging of return mail, you will provide essential visibility to our teams, specifically allowing our agents to rectify addresses and prevent unintentional policy lapses. Your attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and collaboration with internal teams will play a key role in streamlining processes and enhancing our overall underwriting efficiency.
DUTIES : Sort and categorize return mail based on policy numbers, customer names, and other relevant identifiers. Ensure proper tagging and labeling of documents for easy retrieval and tracking. Verify the accuracy and completeness of returned mail items, ensuring they are eligible for flagging and further action. Flag return mail items within our systems to indicate bad addresses or undeliverable mail. Document details of return mail, including date received, reason for return (e.g., invalid address, addressee moved), and any additional notes. Update customer records and policy information based on return mail data, ensuring data accuracy and integrity. Collaborate with agents and customer service teams to rectify addresses flagged as bad, facilitating address corrections and preventing future return mail instances. Act as a liaison between the Underwriting Department and other departments, ensuring seamless information flow and coordination regarding return mail matters. Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements in all aspects of return mail flagging and documentation. EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent. SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 1 year of experience in an office environment, preferably in insurance or a related field. Strong computer proficiency, including proficiency in MS Office Suite and document management software. Excellent attention to detail. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
