DPP is seeking a Unix Server Analyst for an opportunity in Columbia, SC. Candidates must be eligible to attain a low-level US security clearance.
Work arrangement:
Hybrid: Partially onsite (1 day per week) preferred
W2 position; 12 months

Summary:
The typical day would involve providing operational support for the Unix Platform that supports various business applications.
Focuses on server operations across multiple platforms with concentration in providing functional and empirical technical analysis related to the server infrastructure.
The Team supports over 300 technologies across three different Unix OS types and utilizes In-Place Upgrades to improve operational efficiency.

Minimum required work experience:
6 years of server or other job-related experience.
Preferred: 7 years of experience working in infrastructure/server environments performing analysis (hardware and/or software), planning, and implementation.
Job/class description:
Analyzes server workload, including traffic and utilization trends. Provides analytical support to team members throughout the development and implementation process. Provides feedback on commonly encountered problems and misunderstandings to enhance user documentation and/or training programs etc. May provide training on hardware and/or software use.
Compiles and analyzes operational data and directs tests to assist in establishing standard for new designs or modifications to existing equipment, systems, or processes. Tests and verifies servers and support peripherals to ensure that they meet specifications and requirements, by recording and analyzing test data.
Confers with technical specialists and consults specifications to evaluate interface between hardware and software and operational and performance requirements of overall system (s). Interfaces with users, consultants, technical teams, and vendors for maximum guidance or on new technology to determine installation requirements.
Ensures compliance with audit requirements. Addresses vulnerabilities within audit-mandated time frames. Anticipates and mitigates problems to integrity the security of the system. Maintains effective security/backup and disaster recovery processes and systems.
Monitors server performance to determine whether adjustments need to be made, and to determine where changes will need to be made in the future. Creates and maintains process and procedure documentation.
Keeps knowledge and skills updated to keep up with rapid advancements in server technology.

Advanced technical knowledge of server, communications, and related hardware and software.
Strong understanding of technical problems and solutions in relation to the current, as well as the future business environment.
Proficiency with server technologies and platforms.

Able to gather information, analyze information and troubleshoot various server problems.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Ability to communicate technical issues with non-technical people.
Strong customer service skills.
Strong knowledge of common server analysis, monitoring and security utilities.
Strong understanding of relevant server hardware and software.
Attention to detail, ability to effectively communicate with peers and partner IT teams, ability to pivot to multiple tasks, strong troubleshooting skills.
Preferred: RAID Storage experience and solid network experience related to custom server configurations.

The Unix System Operations Team provides Unix infrastructure products and services built and maintained to customer specific requirements. This is achieved through life cycle management which includes administration, security management, operational support, and strategic planning.

Required education/equivalencies:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other job-related degree;
OR, Associates degree in CS, IT, or other job-related degree plus 2 years of work-related experience;
OR, 4 years job-related work experience (total 10 years without a degree)
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree and 7 years of experience working in infrastructure/server environments performing analysis (hardware and/or software), planning, and implementation.
Certifications: CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+
