The successful candidate will teach up to four sections of Physics to Upper School students, including Physics for all 10 th grade students, Advanced Placement Physics for seniors, and a STEM elective for seniors.  In addition to teaching, responsibilities include advising students pursuing Physics-related independent study projects, attending regular department and grade-team meetings, working with students in individual or small-group tutorials as needed, and communicating proactively with parents and administrators about student progress.  Teachers may also be asked to take on additional duties, including serving as an advisor, club moderator, or study hall monitor. 
The high school science sequence at St. Anselm's includes Chemistry in grade 9, Physics in grade 10, AP Biology in grade 11, and a variety of electives, including AP Physics, in grade 12.  Physics classes meet daily for 40 minutes, with a double lab period once per week (for a total of six meeting periods per section per week).

Applicants should have at least an undergraduate degree in a STEM-related field or in Education, with a master's degree preferred.  The ideal candidate will have some teaching experience (which may include student teaching experience), an enthusiasm for working with adolescent boys, and an understanding of the mission of St. Anselm's Abbey School.  Experience managing a lab, including teaching in a lab context, would be a particular asset.

St. Anselm's Abbey School is an independent, Catholic, Benedictine school serving academically motivated young men in grades 6 through 12. Founded in 1942 by Benedictine monks, the school is located on the 40-acre grounds of St. Anselm's Abbey in Northeast Washington. St. Anselm's serves approximately 230 students and employs over 60 faculty and staff. The student body is comprised of thirty-seven percent students of color, and the average SAT score for the Class of 2024 is over 1360.
