Job summary
The Virginia Department of Transportation's (VDOT) Veterans Internship Program (VIP) provides on-the-job training and support for service-disabled veterans.Internships are available in various fields such as planning, finance, project management, security, procurement, quality control, information systems, engineering, civil rights, and human resources.The program is open to veterans with a disability rating of 10% or more who have separated from military service within the past 5 years.

Responsibilities
• Assist veterans with the transition from military to civilian employment• Revamp previous job skills or develop new skills through internships• Work with mentor to improve interviewing skills and update resumes• Collaborate with supervisors and veteran service organizations for internship placement• Complete an average of 29 work hours per week for 12 months
Requirements
• Separation from military service with a disability rating of 10% or more• Date of separation from military service not exceeding 5 years prior to application• Residency in Virginia• Interest in transportation-related careers
