Description About Us: Portland Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Care (PVESC) is a 26-doctor practice offering advanced emergency and specialty care, including surgery, internal medicine, oncology, dermatology, neurology, emergency & critical care, and cardiology.
Our facility features state-of-the-art equipment, including a CT machine, MRI, digital radiology, three surgical suites, IDEXX in-house labs, ultrasound, endoscopy, pulse-wave therapy, and advanced monitoring equipment.

The Role: We're seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our emergency department.
This role offers opportunities to thrive in a fast-paced environment while delivering exceptional care to pets and their families.
Schedule:We are currently hiring for second shift, working 4 10-hour days from 2 PM - 12 AM.
Requirements   What You'll Do: Safely handle and restrain patients with minimal stress.
Assist in diagnostics, including radiographs, lab sample collection, and basic lab work (e.g., PCV/TP, blood smears, urinalysis).
Support veterinarians and LVTs with patient treatments, procedures, and monitoring, including anesthetic induction and recovery.
Maintain and organize treatment areas, surgical suites, and equipment.
Monitor and document patient vitals; alert the medical team to abnormalities.
Provide compassionate communication with clients and contribute to a positive team environment.
Assist with emergency cases, such as GDV, respiratory distress, and trauma patients.
Key Skills: Basic knowledge of veterinary medical terminology, disease processes, and pharmacology.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities in a high-pressure environment.
Proficiency with veterinary software (e.g., ezyVet, Smartflow).
Exceptional communication and teamwork skills.
