Do you have hands-on vetting experience and are looking for a change of pace? This unique position offers a mix of 50% hands-on clinic duties and 50% administrative duties. You will be able to provide patient care, surgical prep services, and administrative work for animals belonging to Ruff Start Rescue. This role will be a hybrid of maintaining spreadsheets with medical information on each specific foster animal, scheduling appointments, and surgery and in-office veterinary care for the foster animals in rescue.
Duties and Responsibilities: Assists in Medical Records Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for each animal in the foster program in Evet. This includes documenting vaccinations, treatments, surgeries, and any other relevant medical information.
Assist with Medical Care Coordination: Works hand in hand with the foster medical manager to oversee the daily care of the foster animals. Coordinate and schedule veterinary appointments for animals in the foster program, including routine check-ups, vaccinations, spay/neuter surgeries, and any necessary medical treatments.
Assist with emails and phone calls regarding the care of the foster animals. Must have excellent communication skills
Help with set up, check-in, recovery, checkout, and cleaning on surgery days
Perform physical exam; accurately count heart rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate, and effort.
Support veterinarians, technicians, and foster homes to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
Performs common in-house laboratory diagnostics
Administers medications via appropriate routes and duration
Assists with nail trims and blood draws.
Qualifications: Proficiency in Google Drive, Excel, Word, and using different software programs.
The ability to lift 50 lbs and bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, reach and climb steps.
Veterinary knowledge and background, preferred 2+ years CVT experience.
Reliable access to the internet
Understand basic pharmacology of commonly used medications
Preferred candidates need at least one year of anesthetic and surgical experience.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are a must.
The right candidate will be able to work independently and effectively.
Must be able to handle the physical and emotional aspects of work in an animal shelter environment, including the use of and assisting with euthanasia

Benefits Health insurance will be available for employees on the 1st day of the month following 30 days. RSR will pay 50% of the employee's monthly premium.

Ruff Start Rescue recognizes seven paid holidays each year. Should a holiday fall on the weekend, the holiday will be observed on the workday closest to the holiday.

Availability: Monday - Friday, 9 am-5 pm (times and days may vary due to workload). The ability and willingness to allow a flexible schedule are essential. Veterinary office located in Princeton, MN
Hourly rate: $17/hr + DOQ
