BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring experienced Veterinary Technicians _(licensed preferred)_ to work in our busy Emergency and Critical Care department at our Charlestown, MA location.
This is a per diem schedule associate.
**Pay:** $24.00 - $49.00 / hour
**This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience, credentialing, and advancement through CareerTrax leveling system** .
**** Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience****
We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends.
*Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum.
For example:
+ Mon Fri: 6pm to 8am = $4.00 Shift Differential
+ Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $5.50 Shift Differential
+ Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $4.00 Shift Differential
As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:
+ Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
+ Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperatureheart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
+ Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
+ Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heartand respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
+ Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
+ Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
+ Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
+ Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
+ Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
+ Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
+ Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.

Our Continuing Education Plan includes $500/year reimbursement for CVT and $750/year for VTS.
The Continuing Education allowance can roll over up to $1,500 for CVT and VTS associates.
Non-Credentialed, full-time Paraprofessionals are eligible for an annual CE stipend of $150.
Full-time CVT associates also receive 8 hours of CE paid hours each year.
Full-time VTS associates receive 12 hours of CE paid each year.
Paid CE hours can be carried over year to year up to a maximum of 24 hours.
Newly hired associates will receive a pro-rated amount of any CE benefit for which they are eligible.
