The Vice President, Capital Projects, will lead Monolith's Olive Creek 2 (OC2) Project, a late-stage multi-billion-dollar brownfield expansion project located just south of Lincoln, Nebraska. The successful delivery of OC2 is a critical enabler of future chapters of Monolith's remarkable growth story. The Vice President, Capital Projects will play an instrumental role in Monolith's evolution while demonstrating the highest levels of professionalism, integrity, and passion.
The Vice President, Capital Projects will oversee all onsite project activities, ensuring successful delivery of the project on schedule and on budget. The ideal candidate is an experienced professional with a robust background in managing large-scale capital energy infrastructure projects over $500 Million through construction and into full commercial operations. \n Why you should be at Monolith:Inspiring work that makes a positive difference to the world A collaborative and diverse environment where everyone has a voice Competitive compensation and flexible scheduling frameworkPlenty of opportunities for continued learning and advancement Why we want to know you:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering or another applicable field; and,Extensive experience in managing capital projects in the range of $2 Billion+ from concept to completion, including resource allocation, execution strategy development, estimating, schedule development/management, cost forecasting, change management, risk management, quality assurance, readiness assessments, procurement, contracting, and construction management.Proven track record on successfully delivering $2+ Billion projects on-time/on-schedule and through successful startup/commercial operationA minimum of 20 years of experience in senior capital project management roles and experience managing a portfolio of large capital projects from organizations in the engineering and construction, energy, petrochemical, refining, or related process industries; or,An equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the job duties and responsibilities.Multi-disciplinary knowledge, including process engineering, process safety, civil-structural, piping, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation/analyzers, process automation, SH&E, and construction management.International project management experience is highly relevant and advantageous. What you'll do in the role:Lead the execution of the OC2 Project, delivering outstanding management of Monolith's onsite project team and external contractors to ensure the project is completed on schedule and within budget. In doing so, you will:Provide comprehensive onsite leadership for the project management team, including strategic direction, technical guidance, and oversight on project execution, including strategies, scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and critical decision-making, to ensure successful completion of the project.Lead the project from late FEED stage through construction, commissioning, startup, and up to successful Commercial Operation.Continuously engage the project management team to ensure a detailed understanding of progress and concerns.Work in close collaboration with the Procurement, Supply Chain, Core Technology, Operations, and Commercial development teams.Build and maintain key partnerships with Project Development, OC2 Steering Committee (CEO, CFO, COO, CDO, CPO), Head of Procurement/Supply Chain, and Head of Manufacturing, and communicate effectively and regularly with these stakeholders to advise on project related issues including strategy, resource allocation and planning, execution results, and risk management.Oversee EPC-driven change order management.Establish and maintain effective interfacing and coordination between contractors executing work on the project (EPC, Air Separation Unit facility, Water Treatment facility, utilities, etc.).Serve as Monolith's principal contact for the EPC contractor's project director.Assesses the impact of disruptions to the project and communicate recovery plans to leadership.Ensure that ongoing and future strategic capital projects are delivered on time and within budget. In doing so, you will:Identify the appropriate team and strategy to effectively manage on-time and on-budget execution of these strategic projects.Provide mentoring to key leader in strategic capital projects group to develop skills/capabilities to be able to effectively lead future strategic projectsProvide strong leadership and management of contracted firms throughout project execution.Provide rigorous financial oversight during project development and execution, reporting on key financial metrics to the business.Serve as a key advisor to the business and a trusted voice in the room on highly visible projects. Your environment:Main location – Lincon, NE50%+ travel required during the detailed design period of the project, primarily between our engineering office in Overland Park/Kansas City and our Nebraska OC2 job site.After detailed design, this role will transfer full-time to our Nebraska OC2 job site.
