The anticipated salary range for this role is between $126,000.00and $180,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.
Overview
We are hiring an experienced candidate to join the Portfolio Management Group (PMG) within the Americas Division (AD). Among its various responsibilities, a key role of PMG is to analyze the profitability of clients, businesses, and sectors to provide findings that inform the strategic direction of the bank. This role will be responsible for key pillars of the PMG function including data sourcing to build out client and bank level peer comparisons, managing portfolio reporting and budgeting topics with Finance, and leading efforts with IT to improve systems and data quality. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of using advanced technical tools to create efficient processes that support a deep understanding of data and have the capacity to clearly explain findings to senior management. In addition, they will be able to independently manage complex projects with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
Develop wholistic strategy for PMG analytical tools, dashboards, and technology development. Chart course for team's future technology plan and manage our team's relationship with IT. Independently carry out complex projects, such as scenario analysis development or project management for system improvement, with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate will need to be able to take vague ideas or problems and turn them in to actionable projects. Source relevant information and manage vendor relationships to procure external data for profitability benchmarking. Lead PMG's partnership with the broader finance and treasury organizations to ensure alignment on profitability and forecasting efforts. Proactively update PMG's profitability framework to support changes. Automate essential data aggregation functionality to enhance analytical capabilities using Python, SQL, and Tableau. Present profitability results to senior management to enhance understanding of specific clients\sectors and support strategic decision making. Explain complex profitability topics or methodology changes convincingly to a non-technical audience. Develop consensus with marketing departments regarding aggregation of client data and foster ongoing working relationships.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
5-7 years of work experience in data and analytics Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to create informative and accurate reporting Advanced Excel and Power Point skills Preferred Qualifications:
5-7 years of work experience in data and analytics in corporate banking Independent management of projects partnering with multiple departments and ability to influence senior level stakeholders Experience working with finance on budgeting topics Track record of driving creative technical solutions with IT to solve business problems At least 3 years of experience using Python, Tableau, and SQL Knowledge of financial regulations (Basel III) and capital allocation models Additional Requirements
