Carlyle's Industrial team sits in the Global Private Equity segment and primarily invests equity capital from the firm's flagship Carlyle Partners funds in both buyout and growth opportunities.
The Industrial team has deployed over $35Bn in capital across over 120 transactions. The Industrial team has completed some of the firm's largest and most successful investments, and recent deals include Duravant, Asplundh, Nouryon, Atotech and Worldpac. The Industrial team at Carlyle has experienced consistently robust deal flow and benefited from strong continuity among team members throughout the ranks.
The Industrial team invests across business cycles and end markets, including Capital Goods, Business and Industrial Services, Chemicals and Distribution. With a flexible mandate, investments range from minority to majority deals and across various growth stages. The group has had a particularly successful history with corporate carve-out transactions from larger corporations, which are responsible for nearly two-thirds of equity invested. Carlyle excels in driving performance through multiple levers of value creation, including international expansion, new product development, M&A, and strategic positioning strategies.
ResponsibilitiesThe Vice President will be expected to work actively with other investment professionals to identify, assess and execute buyout transaction opportunities in the Industrial sector. Given the small deal team sizes, the hire will be expected to take extensive responsibilities in all aspects of the investment process. These responsibilities include:
Lead evaluation and execution of LBO transactions reporting to Managing Directors and PrincipalsDistilling and presenting diligence findings, financial models, valuation and returns to the Investment CommitteeDetermine appropriate valuations, legal/ tax structures and optimal capital structuresNegotiate transaction agreements and financing documentsIdentify opportunities for performance improvement and value creationPost-investment portfolio company monitoring, including evaluating company performance and working with company management on strategic initiatives such as add-on M&A and other value creation effortsQualificationsWe are seeking candidates who have at least two to three years of post-MBA private equity experience. In all cases, we are seeking individuals with strong academic credentials and a demonstrated interest in our core sectors. Candidates must enjoy working in teams, possess strong quantitative and analytical skills, and have strong communication and interpersonal skills. Candidates must be willing to relocate to Washington, DC.
Compensation and BenefitsThe compensation range for this role is specific to Washington, DC and takes into account a wide range of factors including but not limited to the skill sets required/preferred; prior experience and training; licenses and/or certifications. The anticipated base salary range for this role is $250,000. In addition to the base salary, the hired professional will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package spanning retirement benefits, health insurance, life insurance and disability, paid time off, paid holidays, family planning benefits and various wellness programs. Additionally, the hired professional may also be eligible to participate in an annual discretionary incentive program, the award of which will be dependent on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
