Zayo is seeking a Vice President of OSP Construction to be primarily responsible for providing strategy, direction, and oversight for all Outside Plant (OSP) Construction across our North American footprint, with a specific focus on customer-driven metro construction.
This strategic leader will drive structured, consistent, and disciplined operational practices to ensure stable product delivery aligned with company initiatives and expectations. The Vice President of OSP Construction will also assist with business plan development. The Vice President of OSP Construction will ensure high cross-functional communication and participation in line with product deployment and support.
* We're open to this role working remotely within the United States (with some travel as needed); however, our preferred candidate will reside in the Denver Metro, CO area with the ability to work in a hybrid capacity .
Responsibilities:
Provide leadership to the Regional Field OSP teams and assist them with the development of their direct reports.
M anage an organization of hundreds of technical personnel, project managers, and leaders.
Hire and develop OSP teams to forecast and implement construction strategies ahead of business demand.
Take ownership of everything that happens and fails to happen in OSP in our North American facilities, including network performance, maintenance, repair, installation, OSP engineering, permitting, construction, project delivery, OPEX and CAPEX budget management, and cost reduction measures.
Enamor our customers by delivering premier network operational performance results.
Meet or exceed operational service level performance objectives (network reliability, installation, repair, unit cost reduction, OPEX &; CAPEX budget management).
Meet OSP service (commit dates hit, intervals, and production) and financial objectives (NPV, budget) for large and transactional projects.
Interface with internal and external customers and the public in line with Zayo values.
Participate in internal and external customer escalations and drive resolutions.
Build the OSP team with the talent, skills, and experience needed to meet Zayo's goals.
Lead and motivate the OSP team to meet service and financial objectives.
Works collaboratively with internal departments (Operations, Sales, Product, Engineering, Access, Finance, and others).
Manage third-party suppliers and negotiate third-party supplier contracts.
Oversees requests for information and request for quote processes.
Expected to compose and manage expense and capital budgets in excess of $1M.
Prompt delivery of revenue, both from new business and from existing accounts.
Provide accurate project cost estimates.
Builds and maintains project capital budgets.
Meet capital budget targets.
Manages and reduces OPEX budgets and meets OPEX budget targets.
Manages multiple and demanding critical priorities.
Qualifications:
BS degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or other related technical discipline and/or equivalent work experience.
Minimum of ten (10) years of technical and management work-related experience in the telecommunications industry with emphasis on OSP construction, optical networks, project management, and direct customer interface.
Outstanding critical thinking and decision-making process, the anticipation of risky business situations with deliberate and swift response to same.
Outstanding written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills as they interface with subordinates, peers, customers, and vendors.
The position will require some travel and access/availability to serve the needs of the business on a 24/7 basis.
Base Salary Range: $210,000 - $230,000 USD/annually, commensurate with experience.
