Facility: WCO - Wellstar Corporate Office Job Summary:In partnership with WMG operations, the Manager of Virtual Nursing provides administrative leadership for virtual nursing operations in the Wellstar Medical Group. The key responsibilities of the role include planning, organizing, delegating, coordinating, and managing the operations of the virtual care department ensuring that quality services are provided according to established policies and procedures. This manager is responsible for collaborating with the physician practices to integrate virtual care offerings to ensure seamless, high-quality, efficient patient care delivery. The position will be responsible for maintaining clinical quality, financial viability, human resources, patient experience, staff, and provider engagement. In collaboration with associated departments, the manager maintains proficiency in clinical and business operations and resolves operational issues efficiently and with professional decorum.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:Manages the daily operations of the virtual department, including recruitment, onboarding/orientation, scheduling/staffing, and direct supervision of department team members.Facilitates the successful transition of in-clinic services to virtual service offerings.Acts as a liaison between the virtual department and applicable WMG practices to ensure a seamless patient experience.Demonstrates appropriate knowledge and proficiency of the information and communication systems available and used in the department to meet practice needs.Monitors productivity of virtual staff via different modes, including phone reports, Epic dashboards, and other related reports and dashboards.Strives for excellence in employee engagement and patient satisfaction, promoting AIDET throughout the department, and monitoring NRC reports.Compiles daily, monthly, and yearly department statistics, and productivity reports.Prepares team meeting agenda and ensures meeting notes are captured.Manages time and attendance for the department.Plans and maintains operating budget.Leadership, Interdisciplinary Teamwork, and Collaboration:Cultivates a relationship of mutual respect and trust with providers and staff. Works in conjunction with physician group leaders and medical group senior leadership.Supports senior leadership to develop and implement enhanced virtual nursing strategies to improve access to care for all consumers and the growth of the enterprise.Ensures providers and leaders at assigned practice/s understand their obligations as it relates to supporting the work of the virtual nursing department.Seeks out opportunities to network, market, and bring visibility to virtual nursing services. Actively participates in organizational activities, committees, workgroups, and continuing education.Exhibits professionalism in dress, style, and manner.Ability to demonstrate good communication skills with providers, managers, and staff.Maintain an environment of high trust and accountability with direct reports.Clinical Quality:Works collaboratively with WMG physicians, practice operations, and nursing leadership to ensure quality patient outcomes through:Role clarity of all clinical support staff, including RNs, LPNs, and CMAs.Ensuring clinical competency of licensed and unlicensed staff.Quality assurance monitoring of staff/patient interactions.Support and oversight of the nursing process, nurse-driven protocols, and policies and procedures across the continuum.Professional Development:Seeks opportunities to advance knowledge and skills for self and others through formal and informal education offerings to enhance understanding of advances and innovations in ambulatory healthcare, and virtual nursing services.Represents the organization positively in the community, building credibility and willingness to serve on committees and task forces, as needed, to share knowledge and skill; champion a service line or initiative; and seek opportunities to advance skill and scope of responsibilities.Develops and maintains expertise in the field to understand processes, identify barriers to improve the quality and safety of patient care, and provide education regarding the system-based causes for medical errors and strategies to prevent patient harm.Evidence-Based Practice and Research:Applies the effective use of data and evidence to support decision-making for clinical and operational responsibilities and demonstrates awareness of legal and ethical issues related to patient and staff data, information, and confidentiality.Remains updated on current literature and trends in ambulatory practice while utilizing evidenced-based practice and research to establish programs and best practices.Performs other duties as assigned. Required Minimum Education:Bachelors Nursing or Masters Nursing-Preferred or Masters Business Administration/Management-Preferred or Masters Health Administration-Preferred or Masters Healthcare Informatics-PreferredRequired Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):Reg Nurse (Single State) or RN - Multi-state CompactBasic Life Support or BLS - InstructorRequired Minimum Experience:Minimum 5 years direct patient care in physician practice, emergency department, urgent care, or other ambulatory care setting Required and Minimum 3 years in a progressive leadership role within a healthcare setting Required and Minimum 2 years in remote, virtual care operations, or other related centralized call center operations Required
