Our program is applied, collaborative, and interdisciplinary. Our Master of Community and Regional Planning, Master of Nonprofit Management, and Master of Public Administration degrees programs are professionally accredited. The School has awarded degrees since 1968. Oregon's progressive planning and policy environment, combined with the award-winning applied projects, offers students an innovative learning environment. Our two-year degree programs enroll approximately 50-60 students each year, and our graduates are consistently successful in finding professional positions after graduation. The School of PPPM also offers a graduate certificate in nonprofit management, an undergraduate minor in nonprofit management, an undergraduate major and minor in PPPM, and a PhD in planning and public affairs. We have a strong tenure-track placement rate for prior visiting professors in PPPM.

Position Summary The School of Planning, Public Policy, and Management (PPPM) at the University of Oregon invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position to teach in the undergraduate and Master of Public Administration programs during the ******** academic year. Candidates with research and teaching interests in any area of public administration or public policy will be considered, provided that candidates can teach the following required core courses.
The University of Oregon academic year consists of three 11-week quarters (Sept 15-June 15). Generally, we anticipate hiring one individual in the area of public policy/public administration. This Visiting Assistant Professor will teach six, four-credit courses across three quarters (the equivalent of two courses per semester in a semester context) plus a non-credit workshop (math refresher). The courses will include the following courses:
o Undergraduate-Leve Quantitative Methods (taught twice) o Undergraduate- level Policy and Planning Analysis (taught twice) o Graduate-level Public Policy Analysis o Elective TBD based on the candidate The candidate may be able to teach an elective of their choosing based on their research or professional expertise. The individual will also be asked to develop and offer a non-credit workshop to refresh math skills for incoming graduate students. The successful candidate will also be asked to be an academic advisor to 5-8 MPA students. Minimum Requirements o A PhD in public policy, public administration, economics, or a closely related field (All but dissertation (ABD) candidates will be considered). Professional Competencies o Ability to help create an educational environment supportive of staff, students, and faculty inclusive of race, culture, (dis)ability, gender, sexuality, religion, or other aspects of human diversity.
o Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively and facilitate student learning.
o Ability to conduct independent, high-quality scholarship or creative practice. Preferred Qualifications o Prior college or university- level teaching experience.
