The Global Risk & Compliance Organization ("GRC") independently oversee the company's risk-taking and risk management activities, including the comprehensive identification, management, and mitigation of risks within the Company's risk appetite. GRC ensures the company operates in a safe, sound and fully compliant manner within all applicable regulatory expectations. We create and maintain the overall risk management framework while ensuring legal and regulatory compliance.

We are seeking a highly experienced Vice President, Committee Governance and Policy Management to join our Enterprise Risk Management and Risk Oversight (ERM&RO) function within GRC. The successful candidate will play a meaningful role in managing governance frameworks, ensuring robust policy management, and facilitating effective committee coordination, including the documentation and execution of credible challenge processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and oversee the governance and policy management function within the Enterprise Risk Management department, ensuring alignment with the company's risk management framework.
Act as the primary committee coordinator for enterprise-wide risk committees, ensuring the documentation and facilitation of credible challenge at the committee level.
Collaborate with senior leaders across various business units and risk functions to ensure governance standards are upheld and risks are adequately addressed.
Drive the development and maintenance of governance structures that support effective decision-making and oversight of key risk activities.
Manage the preparation and distribution of materials for risk management committees, ensuring timely, accurate, and comprehensive information for discussion and decision-making.
Establish and maintain a policy management framework to ensure that risk policies are current, well-documented, and effectively communicated across the organization.
Facilitate the review and update of governance frameworks, charters, and mandates to ensure they are responsive to regulatory expectations and internal risk strategies.
Provide strategic leadership in documenting and escalating risk-related issues and challenges to senior leadership and relevant risk committees.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to governance, risk, and policy management.

Qualifications:
10+ years of experience in governance, policy management, risk management, or a related field within GSIB's.
Advanced degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field is required.
Proven expertise in enterprise risk management, with a deep understanding of risk committee structures and governance frameworks.
Demonstrated experience in coordinating governance committees and documenting credible challenge processes.
Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and expectations for governance, including knowledge of financial services regulations and risk management best practices.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with senior executives and cross-functional teams.
Ability to think strategically, manage complex projects, and deliver results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the U.S is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions
Salary Range: $185,000.00 to $260,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits
