Position Overview: The Business Development Officer will be responsible for identifying and cultivating new business opportunities within the middle market and C&I space across Southern California.
This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong network, exceptional interpersonal skills, and a keen understanding of the lending landscape.
Key Responsibilities: Develop and execute a business development strategy to identify and secure new lending opportunities in high-risk industries, with a focus on cannabis.Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including business owners, industry leaders, and referral partners.Conduct market research to identify emerging trends and opportunities in the middle market lending sector.Collaborate with credit and underwriting teams to structure deals that meet both client needs and risk management standards.Represent the bank at industry events, networking functions, and community engagements to enhance brand visibility.Provide market insights and competitive analysis to inform product development and strategic initiatives.Achieve individual and team sales targets while contributing to the overall growth of the bank's lending portfolio.Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA preferred.5+ years of experience in business development or lending, with a strong emphasis on middle market or commercial lending.Proven track record of success in generating new business and meeting sales targets, particularly in high-risk industries.Strong understanding of the regulatory landscape surrounding cannabis and other high-risk sectors.Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.Established network within the Southern California business community.
