PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: This role will be supporting the U.S. Fleet Forces Command (USFF) Headquarters (HQ) at USFF Norfolk, Virginia at a Government facility/site. As a member of their USFF Communications and Information Systems Division (N6) Support Team, you will significantly contribute to Navy Fleet Readiness and Homeland Security. The team is involved in information technology (IT) support tasks including but are not limited to Program Management support, Network Engineering support, Maritime Operations Center/Tactical Systems support, Video Teleconferencing and Audio/Visual support, Portal Management and Application Development support, Staff IT Business Process/IT Services support, Satellite Communications Planning support, Information Assurance (IA)/Certification and Accreditation support, Database Administration support, Communications Security/EKMS support, and general IT support, as well as maintenance, updating and enhancement of developed application/software.
Job Responsibilities: · The technician shall provide network support, assist VTC facilitators at the subordinate commands, and provide senior Flag Officer support for all out-of-area conferences hosted by USFF. Core support hours for Video Teleconferencing are 07:00 to 15:00 Monday through Friday. Tasking to work extended hours is to be expected to facilitate operational, exercise and emergent requirements.
· Perform installation tasks for audio visual and structured cabling projects including but not limited to: cable pulls, cable terminations, system equipment and components, rack fabrication/wiring, layout for equipment and metal fabrication. The Technician will be expected to engage in specific system testing by coordinating and reporting progress to government lead ensuring projects achieve time, scope, quality, safety, and customer satisfaction requirements.
· Support and maintain all VTC and AV presentation equipment to include, but not limited to, Cisco Codecs, large screen displays, audio mixers, audio amplifiers, video switchers, Crestron System control hardware, projectors, video accessories, and other related peripherals, interfaces and devices.
· Install, configure, and troubleshoot conference room AV systems and equipment.
· Test all equipment to ensure correct operation and to ensure all equipment is compatible and meets operational requirements, i.e. document system changes to support updates to "As-Built" drawings.
· Test, train and instruct customers and fellow internal team members on the proper use of equipment and systems.
· Read and interpret construction documents, wiring diagrams, schematics, and blueprints
· Routine cable pulls for LAN, video and audio systems. Terminating and testing of audio and data cables including: Cat6, Microphone and Speaker cabling is required.
· Arrange with Defense Reutilization Material Office DRMO for the proper turn in and disposal of excess equipment that is no longer of use to the Government as part of maintenance activities.
· Perform proper termination of various cable types to include Fiber Optic.
· Coordinate repair return authorizations with manufacturers and vendors as part of maintenance activities.
· Provide training for system users. Act as Customer Service Representative and be able to interpret system issues reported and effectively resolve.
Job Requirements: · High School or Career Field/ Community: Information Technology
· 5+ years of related functional and or technical experience in support of video teleconferencing (VTC) systems such as CISCO.
· Minimum of 4 years of in-depth experience in the AV and VTC system integration field of expertise
· Able to read, and understand system schematics
· Able to work independently or as a member of an integrated team
· Act as Customer Service Representative and be able to interpret system issues reported and effectively resolve
· Validation of qualifications and credentials are to be demonstrated by resume.
· Must have an active secret clearance
· Must have a CompTIA Security + certification
