Summary:
The Director of Continuous Improvement will lead the development and implementation of a greenfield Continuous Improvement (CI) program within our distribution environment. The successful candidate will drive initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, reducing waste, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement throughout the organization. This role requires a deep understanding of CI methodologies, statistical analytics, and exceptional leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities:
Program Development and Implementation:
Develop and implement a comprehensive Continuous Improvement strategy from the ground up, tailored to the specific needs of the distribution operations.
Establish CI goals, KPIs, and metrics aligned with the company's strategic objectives.
Design and execute a roadmap for CI initiatives, ensuring alignment with operational priorities and resource availability.
Leadership and Team Management:
Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing CI team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
Provide guidance and support to CI team members in the application of Lean, Six Sigma, and other CI methodologies.
Champion CI initiatives across all levels of the organization, engaging and motivating employees to embrace continuous improvement practices.
Process Improvement:
Identify and analyze key processes within the distribution operations, utilizing tools such as value stream mapping, process mapping, root cause analysis, 5S, Gemba, and standard work.
Lead cross-functional teams in the implementation of CI projects aimed at reducing waste, improving quality, and enhancing overall operational efficiency.
Utilize statistical analysis and data-driven approaches to identify opportunities for improvement and measure the impact of CI initiatives.
Training and Development:
Develop and deliver CI training programs to employees at all levels, ensuring a strong understanding of CI principles and tools.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement through ongoing education, workshops, and hands-on training sessions.
Mentor and coach employees to build internal CI capabilities and sustainment.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
Implement and maintain systems for tracking the progress and impact of CI initiatives.
Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and future plans.
Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of the CI program and make adjustments as necessary to achieve desired outcomes.
Education and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in a Continuous Improvement role within a distribution environment, with at least 5 years in a leadership position.
Proficiency in Minitab, Smartsheets, PowerBI, and Visio, or equivalent software required. SigmaXL, QIMacros, and iGrafx preferred.
Proven track record of successfully leading CI initiatives and delivering measurable results.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and drive change at all organizational levels.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
Experience in project management and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Knowledge of Lean distribution principles and tools.
Additional Skills:
Demonstrated ability to build and sustain a culture of continuous improvement.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
High level of proficiency with MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
Knowledge of ERP systems and their role in CI initiatives is a plus.
Working Conditions:
This role may require occasional travel to various distribution sites.
The position may involve working in a distribution environment, requiring adherence to safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment.
