Position: Wargaming Designers
Location: Suffolk, VA
Overview: Group W is searching for designers with a passion for wargaming to assist the wargaming team in wargame design, development, facilitation, and analysis activities. All wargaming personnel will become familiar with the electronic support tools to facilitate player interactions with the game.
Requirements:
Four-year degree from an accredited university in Organizational Psychology, Organizational Science, military related fields (International Relations, War Studies, Security Studies, Military History) or other related fields Experience in a variety of mathematical, statistical, and computer science areas Ability to obtain and hold a secret or higher security clearance Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite U.S. Citizenship Preferred:
Active DoD Secret clearance Master's degree from an accredited university in Organizational Psychology, Organizational Science, military related fields (International Relations, War Studies, Security Studies, Military History) or other related fields Expertise in military systems and processes Experience as a Joint/Interagency/International Planning Officer Passing grade in wargaming course as part of a degree or post graduate certificate in wargame design (e.g., MORS)2+ years' experience or participation in defense related wargaming 2+ years' experience playing hobby wargaming (e.g., electronic, boardgames, miniatures, Role Playing Games [RPGs]) and/or Model United Nations 2+ years' experience in competitive forensics/debate/rhetoric 2+ years' experience or passing grade of course in computer programming (prefer JAVA or C#)2+ years' experience in formal event planning, production, and execution Graphics design experience in generation of charts, maps, briefs, and professional presentations Experience briefing and/or working with military and civilian leaders of all ranks Basic technical support experience in digital wargaming Experience authoring reports, policy, or proposals Proven analysis and critical thinking skills Effective communication and interpersonal skills (verbal, written, listening) with the ability to effectively communicate important issues on a technical subject to a group of peers Duties/Responsibilities:
Assist the wargaming team in identifying sponsor requirements, design, execution, and analysis of wargames Depending on skillset, designers will compose elements and components of the game design (e.g., background, competing objectives, Order of Battle, etc.) Assist the team in the selection and design of adjudication rules, develop game components (electronic and physical) Present game materials to players Support player interaction with the game (electronic and physical) Record and analyze proceedings of a game Interface with the client and Group W team members on the development of wargame designs to address a variety of strategic to tactical problems Provide technical support for the execution of digital wargames and digital wargaming resources Coordinate and integrate qualitative and quantitative analysis, models, and tools in the support of wargame data collection and synthesizing wargame results Salary: $80,000 - $150,000 (provided as a general guideline only. Compensation dependent upon relevant work experience related to the scope of the position, education, training, and market considerations). About Group W:
