Position Overview: The Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator is responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant. This includes monitoring and controlling plant processes, performing routine maintenance and repairs, collecting and analyzing samples, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. *This position is contingent upon award ??Responsibilities and Duties: Performs assigned treatment plant rounds; inspect, monitor, troubleshoot, performance test and document plant processes.Collects and analyzes wastewater samples.Performs laboratory tests and monitors results.Mixes and applies chemicals to treat wastewater.Maintains, compiles, and updates plant operations logs and reports; perform and record mathematical calculations related to plant operational activities.Operates, troubleshoots, repairs, modifies plant machinery and equipment including (but not limited to) pumps, valves, motors, meters, tanks, reservoirs, and feeders.Performs general plant facility maintenance such as cleaning, painting, and repairing plant facilities; perform various grounds maintenance duties as required.Operates the facility in compliance with the Louisiana Wastewater Treatment Facility Operations laws and regulations.Attends meetings, events and other functions as needed.Weekend, holiday, and on-call work may be required.Performs related duties. Required Education, Knowledge and Skills:High School diploma or GED requiredMust possess a valid Wastewater Operator Level 1 Certification (Class A or equivalent) as recognized by the appropriate federal and state regulatory agencies.Must be able to climb ladders, regularly lift weights up to 50 pounds, and work in a physically demanding environment.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Collaborative team player with a strong work ethic.
